If I ever got invited to a castle or a grand estate like Burghley House, where Lords and Ladies rode horses and jousted, where Rembrandt’s and Picasso’s littered the walls. Ceilings were not stucco, but master pieces of grand proportions. Where dungeons beckoned to be explored and turrets remained forlorn. A magnificent house where guests slept in grandiose rooms and servants open the shutters and pull back sashes, ‘good morning my lady’. If I ever were lucky enough to be invited to a place such as this and sleep in a canopy bed with antique velvet curtains I’d probably fall in love with the blue velvet and want it for my own. Would they notice if I cut out a square, to sew a pillow? What if ‘borrowed’ a piece from behind the headboard? Would I get caught? Would it be worth losing my head over?
